Reading Group Member (2009-present) of Capitol Choices: Noteworthy Books for Children and Teens (board member 2014-2020)

Founding member of DCASL - in 2014, led the charge to revive the long-defunct DC chapter of AASL. I reached out to area school library leaders, planned and hosted interest meetings, formed and led a steering committee, liaised with AASL’s national board, helped create founding documents, and ran the first election. Since being recognized as an official chapter in 2015, we have held both professional development and social events several times a year, sometimes in partnership with DCPS and DCPL. Solicited pro bono work from a children’s literature illustrator to create our logo, and negotiated donations and sponsorships ranging from local bookstores to national vendors such as Junior Library Guild and Follett.
